REGULAR MEETING

May 22, 2026

Katie Blume called the meeting to order at 8:30 AM with the pledge of allegiance. Council members in attendance: Robert Zeigler and Marissa Evankovich. Also in attendance, Mayor Nickelaus Engle. Absent Beth Cottrell, Cecilia Gallup, Cim Besecker, Borough Treasurer and Denise Immel, Borough secretary.

Invoices: none

Support Letter needed from Millheim for Pool grant:

Millheim will commit 17,500.00 out of pool funds as match for grant. A motion was made by Robert Zeigler to issue a support letter, seconded by Marissa Evankovich. Motion passed.

Grant application fee:

A motion was made by Robert Zeigler to pay the $100.00 application fee for grant, seconded by Marissa Evankovich. Motion passed.

Summer activities at the park:

A motion was made by Robert Zeigler to approve a sand volleyball league as a fund raiser for the pool, seconded by Marissa Evankovich. Motion passed. A motion was made by Robert Zeigler to approve a $150.00 registration fee per team for sand volleyball, seconded by Marissa Evankovich. Motin passed.

Old Action Items

Water and Sewer updates

Infrastructure updates:

Matt from Rettew reached out to insurance company. Engineering evaluation will be taken care of by Rettew and will be sent to the borough first.  Also has scheduled DEP file review as well on the dam.

Park and Rec update:

Centre County Conservation district submitted updated plan for lot; all plants will be at minimum non-toxic. Should come in right under budget, may include signs.  Will need to send email to confirm update is OK.  A motion was made by Robert Ziegler to send the approval email, Marissa Evankovich seconded, motion passed.

Robert indicated he will be doing a site visit on Friday 5/29/26 with Penn State Extension at Soldier & Sailors Park to do a potential site plan which is useful for obtaining additional grants.  Friday 5/29/26 – 10 am.  Robert will work with Nick to include the Hamer Center, as they also do community planning as well.

Penns Valley high school kids volunteered at the park 5/21/26 for service day. Painted various items, etc.  Did a great job.

A motion was made by Robert Zeigler to adjourn, seconded by Marissa Evankovich. Motion passed. Meeting adjourned at 8:46 AM.
